The December solstice comes on December 21 at 3:03 p.m. PST.
Did you know that it is the tilt of the Earth and not distance from the Sun that causes the cold of winter and warmth of summer?
The Sun’s path makes a wave pattern of light and dark on the face of the Earth traveling to the Tropic of Capricorn and on Dec 21 reaches the furthermost point south where it seems to make a turn around and goes northward where the wave peaks on June 21st and turns back southwards at the tropic of Cancer, our Summer solstice (if live north of equator).
At the midpoint of the wavy path, the Sun passes over the equator. On it’s way up this it is the spring equinox and autumn equinox on the way down.
